What is the ultrasound of the female genitalia?
Ultrasound study in gynecological practice allows to visualize internal female genital organs (uterus, ovaries), to evaluate their structure, to identify volumetric formations, to find out the cause of irregular menstruation, to determine the presence of pregnancy, to evaluate the state of retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Ultrasound of pregnancy is extremely important.
Ultrasonography of the uterus and appendages in gynecology can be carried out using transabdominal and transvaginal sensors. A prerequisite for conducting a study with a transabdominal sensor is the good filling of the bladder. The study with a transvaginal sensor does not require special training.
When should ovarian ultrasound and other studies come from?Ultrasonic examination of the uterus and appendages is indicated for violations of the menstrual cycle, abdominal pain, bleeding, with adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, cysts and tumors of the ovaries, for diagnosis of pregnancy.
Usually, ultrasound examination of female organs is recommended before planning pregnancy in women with irregular menstruation to conduct folliculometry - assessing the growth and maturation of the follicle during the menstrual cycle to determine ovulation - the most favorable period for fertilization.
Ultrasonography of the uterus and other internal organs of the female genital area can be carried out before planning pregnancy and in healthy women, as well as prophylactically once every 6-12 months. Also important is an ultrasound of the bladder and similar measures of diagness.
And most importantly: the survey does not have to be conducted in order to "find" the disease, but to make sure you are healthy!
